Whereas there is a proven history of confined space hazards associated with silos, manure pits and tanks used in agriculture;

Be it therefore resolved…

…that the National Institute for Farm Safety, Inc., go on record to encourage all manufacturers of safety equipment to pursue and develop simple and inexpensive equipment or devices which will enable the farm operator to determine whether a confined space is safe to enter;

And, be it further resolved…

…in the pursuit of such designs, manufacturers should also develop adequate user instructions to assure that farm operators and their employees may be adequately trained to recognize such potential hazards and trained in techniques necessary to engage in work-related activities, utilizing appropriate protective methods and/or protective equipment in a safe and effective manner.
